Day 1 : Cengkareng Golf Club, Jakarta

18th October 2011

The chef-de-mission, in a new strategy, broke up pakdokter's usual partnership with pakTgAzman and introduced pakdokter's batchmate in STAR, pakMihdzor Hilal to make up the Staroba pair to match Koba's pair of pakMesha and pakDatukZainuddin. Koba had to also split pakMesha/pakErik partnership so that pakErik could continue to play against pakTgAzman in the other pair. PakMesha and pakErik had made an unwritten agreement that we would be playing against pakdokter and pakTgAzman in all the games between the two teams and this agreement will stay effective indefinitely.

pakMesha, pakdokter,pakDatukZainuddin and pakMihdzor....

pakdokter, pakMesha and pakDatukZainuddin played to a handicap of 30 whereas pakMihdzor played to his handicap of 25. pakMihdzor was 'psychologically' handicapped for being the anchor of the flight and his game did not reflect his true capability. Luckily for pakdokter - everything came out right and saved the day for pakdokter's pair. Pakdokter's 3 pars in the 1st Nine helped our pair to lead by 3-up into the 2nd Nine. Another 4 pars in the 2nd Nine ensured that Staroba got 1 point from pakdokter's pair. Pakdokter played a net score of 65 (-7) to the handicap of 30.

In our usual hole-for-hole betting, pakdokter came home with a million rupiah surplus from pakMesha and pakDatukZainuddin. pakMihdzor was probably the main 'financier' as he did not play to match the two golfers from Koba......

O2-massage center and we were all give a

complimentary 15-minute treatment after the game.

The air-conditioned room with a high-concentration oxygen

in the air under a blue and soothing light helped us

relax and get massaged to rejuvenate the tired body......

STAROBA-KOBA TIN Grand Finale 2011

18th October 2011

The Staroba-Koba Grand Finale was originally planned for November 2011. But the dates were changed to mid-October forcing pakdokter to have to go back to Jakarta almost immediately after returning home with the guys from the RSGC the week before. The Grand Finale was a 4-day-4-game event in the tradition of the Ryder's Cup format and each team was represented by 20-golfers each.

The Staroba Team was selected by special invitation of the CdM - chef-de-mission - pakRoslanChik. Many of the regulars in the 4 events during the year were invited - and some who could not make it due to work commitment or otherwise were replaced by a few new participants.

The Staroba Team were each given a set of 5 golf shirts - 4 for each of the 4 games and 1 for the prize-giving event. Each of the golfers was also given their own named golf cap and cabin-luggage.

Day 3 : Damai Indah Bumi Serpong (2)

As pakdokter had not been here for such a long time, pakdokter decided to take many picture shots of the course.

Pakdokter played with pakKamal (12) and pakRedza (17). PakKamal gave pakdokter 12 strokes and Redza gave pakdokter 2 strokes on the 1st Nine but after going 3-up on the first 3 holes generously gave another 2. We played 'cut-throat' against each other at 50k rupiah per ball.....

Pakdokter thought that pakdokter will become the 'Santa Claus' for the day......but as luck would have had it, after a brilliant start and generously giving 2 more strokes to pakdokter - Redza's game collapsed and pakdokter won against him in the 1st Nine but only lost to Kamal by 1 ball.

Pakdokter played pakdokter's usual 'steady' game and surprise, surprise, at the end of the game pakdokter collected 500k from Redza and Kamal........

The secret?.......mesti tidur cukup and tidur awal, pak........

Day 3 : Damai Indah Bumi Serpong (1)

Pakdokter had only played at the Damai Indah Bumi Serpong Course once before and was looking forward to play there again. We were lucky to get a booked tee-off time for the Saturday morning as this course is normally very popular and crowded especially on weekends. The golf fees are also a lot more. It cost each of us 1.5 million rupiah (RM530) for the game.

PakRaisMansor had left for home on Friday night as he was summoned by his sister, "Rosmah Mansor" for a meeting on Saturday morning. And pakKhairul also had to go home Saturday morning to settle some domestic matters - so the group was left to two flights of 3 each.

And the golf course was indeed 'busy' - so many Japanese and Korean golfers who played slow ( some looked like pre-beginners!) and most of them walked the course instead of using the buggy.....

We had to wait almost 40 minutes after the booked time before we could tee off.

"Rain" did equally well but had a more difficult downhill put

but managed a par...

but he had a 'birdie' on the 10th....

so the rub and knock worked.....

Damai Indah was designed by Jack Nicklaus

this is definetely, to pakdokter, the best

of the 3 courses we played in this trip....

the only downside was the slow play due to the big crowd

we took nearly 5.5 hours to finish..

Day 2: Rancamaya Golf Resort, Bogor

The second day game was played at the Rancamaya Golf Resort. pakdokter had played at this course a lot more times as pakdokter's regular group - the STAROBA Golf Club - likes this course better as the golfers said that this course is more challenging than the Bogor Raya and that the caddies here are supposedly prettier!

Pakdokter and pakKamal had the benefit of playing here for free courtesy of CIMB. The other golfers paid the weekday morning rate of 490k rupiah ( about RM 180 ).
