Garuda Golf Challenge @ Nirvana Bali GC (2)

The Nirvana Bali GC at Tanah Lot is such a pretty golf course with gorgeous scenery that pakdokter could not help but kept taking photographs of the course throughout the game.

Garuda Golf Challenge Final Rounds at Nirvana Bali GC (1)

Pakdokter's flight was made up of pakKenji Yamashita, pakZahardin Omardin and pakDanny. The signature Hole is a par-3 over the sea with the Tanah Lot Temple proudly floating in the sea to our left. Strong wind blowing inland made it more difficult to hit to the green. Pakdokter was first to hit and sent the ball into water. PakKenji and pakZahardin did the same. PakDanny aimed way to the right and landed the ball on the adjining fairway.

So the three of us took a penalty drop from the designated spot. pakDanny chipped his ball nicely to the green and thus managed to win the hole against all of us.

Garuda Golf Challenge 2014 Final Round. Game 1 @ Nirvana Bali GC

The Game 1 of the Final Rounds of the Garuda Golf Challenge was held at the Nirvana GC located about 1 hour to the north of where our hotel was. We left after an early breakfast at the hotel and we warmly welcomed by rows of the club's caddies as our buses trooped into the club. It was a mammoth task indeed to organize 160 golfers for the event. Kudos to the organizers for a job well done .

Pakdokter's flight was allocated to start from the course's signature par-3 hole. Upon arrival at the hole - a lady was practising tai-chi at the tee box overlooking the famed Tanah Lot Temple in the background.

After the practise round at the New Kuta GC we were transferred for check-in at the Mercure Harvestland Kuta situated along the Ngurah Rai Bypass Highway. This is a new hotel. Half of the golfers were housed here and another half were housed at the Ibis Hotel further down the road.

The RSGC Buayas group decided to have dinner at a 'Nasi Padang' restaurant located just about 100 yards away from the hotel. Nasi Padang originating from Sumatera shares similar flavours to Malay dishes and has always been a favourite among Malaysian travellers to Indonesia.

It was perhaps a 'first experience' for Kenjisan - pakKenji Yamashita.

Practise Round at the New Kuta GC Bali (2)

We played from Hole 12 at the New Kuta GC Bali and by the time we finished the 18th Hole there was still enough light for us to continue play. As there were people teeing off at Hole No 1 we were directed to Hole 10 thus enabling us to play all the holes of the 2nd Nine of the New Kuta GC.

It was a windy afternoon which made it quite a challenge to play this course. However the secnery made up for the poor game most of us played that afternoon.

We arrived at the New Kuta Bali Golf Course at almost 4 pm. There was only enough time for at most 9-holes. Our golf bags and flights were quickly organised and pakdokter's flight of pakKenji, pakThomas and pakDanny were alloted the slot to tee off from Hole 12 of the golf course.

Garuda Golf Challenge 2014 - Bali (January 2015)

The Final Round of the Garuda Golf Challenge 2014 was held in Bali. Pakdokter led a group of 15 RSGC Buayas in a tournament participated by about 160 golfers from all over Malaysia. The winners of the 7 Qualifying Rounds held in 2014 were fully sponsored by Garuda. The rest paid a real value-for-money package which gave us this great opportunity to play in first class golf courses in Bali.

Pakdokter had also invited pakdokter's friend from Biwako Country Club in Kyoto, Japan, to this tour. PakKenji Yamashita was initially supposed to come with his wife, IbuKeiko Yamashita, unfortunately, Keikosan injured her left knee a few weeks ago and had to give this trip a miss.

Kenjisan flew in from Osaka on the 8th January, spent the night at the KLIA hotel and met up with pakdokter and the rest of the contingent early morning on the 9th.

The Garuda flight from Kuala Lumpur took us to Jakarta where we transited for about 2 hours before the domestic Garuda flight took us to Bali. We arrived at Bali Ngurah Rai Airport at around 2 pm and the golfers were taken straight to the New Kuta GC for a practise round.
