Golf Amal Yayasan Tun Hamdan..

The 'Golf Amal Yayasan Tun Hamdan' was held on the 1st November 2009 at the Glenmarie Golf Resort. Organised by the STAROBA and the STAROBA Golf Club, this charity event was an initiative to raise funds for the Yayasan Tun Hamdan, an educational foundation set up in recognition of Tun Hamdan Sheikh Tahir, the first headmaster of STAR and an accomplished educationist in Malaysia.

Tun Hamdan Sheikh Tahir was also at one time the headmaster of the Clifford School in Kuala Kangsar and the Sultan Yusuf Secondary School in Batu Gajah. Both these two alumni clubs had also participated in this fund-raising event.

Almost 120 golfers took part in the Sunday golf and among the major sponsors were the AMBank Group, the DRB-Hicom, Malaysia Airlines, Bank Rakyat and many others.

Pakdokter managed to round-up 8 golfers from the batch of '69 at STAR ( Form 5 in 1969 at STAR, Ipoh) to participate in the game. It was a pleasure to meet up these guys some of whom pakdokter had not met for the past 30 years or so!

Although none of us won any prizes and no one took home the two Audi Cars put up for the hole-in-one prizes, we were glad for the reunion and for the chance to remember the good old days...
