Shibuya and the Hachiko Dog....

Friday, 1st October 2010

Thursday was another dull and cold day - so pakdokter stayed home reading and updating pakdokter's golfblog!

Friday we went out to Shibuya - one of the shopping districts of Tokyo. This is one of the major landmarks of Tokyo. It is here also that you find the statue of "Hachiko - the Dog". The statue of Hachiko immortalised the famous story of the dog of a Professor who never failed to wait for him at the railway station every evening for him to return from work. And when the Professor died, the dog carried on waiting for him every evening.....

This famous touching story was made into a Hollywood movie starring Richard Gere as the Professor.

We had lunch at a small shop under the railway bridge at Shibuya. This restaurant served "Pepper" lunch - in KL you get a shop at the Pavillion Food Court level serving the same dish. Pakdokter's partner insisted that pakdokter tried this shop as she did not think the one in KL was authentic.

Pakdokter did a quick walkabout at the many malls in Shibuya but did not find anything that pakdokter fancied. So pakdokter took the train to Shinjuku - another main shopping hub of Tokyo - where pakdokter bought a seat for the limousine bus to Narita Airport for Monday when pakdokter would be returning home. Then pakdokter went to the Victoria Golf Store in Shinjuku - a 9-storey complex of golf equipments, apparels and accessories. Pakdokter ended up buying a cap and a shirt there.
