Reading Kundera in Prague

Pakdokter saw this book in pakdokter's library before setting out for Prague and decided to take it along for reading during the holidays. Milan Kundera is one of Czech Republic's most known writers. Pakdokter had watched the movie based on this novel many years ago and can still vaguely remember the story. Written in the 60's? - in the background of the Czech uprising and the Soviet invasion soon after, the book was about love, sex, infidelity, morality, politics all wrapped up into a story that has comedy, philosophy and history put together. For pakdokter it was a refreshing reminder of the days of political and sexual liberation of the 60's and 70's.
Czech Republic was at one time a centre of educational excellence with the Charles University being the top university in Northern Europe for many decades. As such it was not surprising that the country has produced many talents in the fields of literature, music, art etc. Pakdokter visited one of the book-stores at the Palladium Mall and at the small English section pakdokter picked up the books below which pakdokter thinks may not be easily available in KL.

Vaclav Havel was President of the Democratic Czech Republic for 2 terms..
he was a prolific writer as well as a TV journalist?
he wrote plays, essays, and novels....
pakdokter had bought a few of his books 10 years ago ( yet to be read..)
but this time picked up this novel that looks interesting...
The Vaclav Havel Foundation now organises an annual meeting for intellectual discourse
2 or 3 years ago, fellow STAROBAN Zaid Ibrahim was an invited panelist in one of its forums..
