The 'Big Bike Carnival' of Miri was held at the Saberkas Commercial Centre, which was about a 10 minute taxi ride from downtown Miri. As pakdokter alighted the taxi and walked towards the square where the Carnival was being held, Ravi noticed 'Klinik Nuing', the good doctor being one of our classmates during medical school years from 1972 to 1977. It was indeed a pleasant meeting for all of us after so many years.
Dr Nuing Jeluing came from somehwere near Bintulu, a good 200 km away from Miri. But he had served most of his medical carrer with Shell Sarawak, being the Medical Director there until he retired 2 or 3 years ago. While serving Shell he also did stints in Britain and in the US.
Upon retirement, he has set up this private medical practice providing general medical care as well as occupational and industrial health consultancy for which he has years of experience while in service with Shell.
Nuing's four children are all away leaving only he and his wife in their empty nest. Two of his children are in Adelaide and the other two in KL one of whom is studying to be a doctor.
It was nice meeting you again, Nuing, after all these years...
