The weekend that pakdokter spent in Miri happened to also co-incide with two other major local events. The Miri City Day was celebrated on Saturday, the 15th of May every year. There was a procession along the main city street but unfortunately a heavy downpour washed out our plan to view that parade.
The other event was the Miri Big Bike Festival. Contingents of Big Bikers from Brunei, Sarawak and Peninsula Malaysia were there 'booming' their machines around in town in full ( some even in leather) gears and boots with tight-fitting black pants, tee-shirts and bandanas....
There were quite a handful of 'aging-hippies' which made pakdokter's partner feel very much at home....
There were bike competitons and rock band performances during the one-day festival which was held at a square of the Saberkas Commercial Centre, a suburban neigbourhood just outside Miri downtown.
