Verona was a 2 hour train ride from Venice. This is the home of a pair of star-crossed lover, Romeo and Juliet, made famous in the love story written by Shakespeare.
Upon arrival at Verona's train station, we took a bus to visit the Castelvecchio. The Old castle was built along-side of the Adige River near the Ponte Scaligero bridge which was bombed during the war. The castle was the former home of the Della Scala family and has now been turned into an art museum with paintings by the masters of the Veronese school of northern Italy.

The home of Juliet, from Shakeapeares's Romeo and Juliet, was located on one of the streets in the city of Verona. It was a short walk away from the main square of the city.
