As pakdokter had been reporting the past one week, Rastam was traumatised by the earthquake in Tokyo. The CEO of the company wants things to go on as usual, with allowance of a shorter working hours due to the affected train services. The 'gaijins' ( foreigners) in the company had requested to be allowed home and the CEO finally relented and allowed them to go home up to the 11th April - provided they continue to work from home.
Rastam took the first available flight home on Airasia on Sunday night and arrived at the LCCT at 630am Monday morning. Pakdokter and partner could not wait to see him and we drove down to the airport to pick him up.
We had breakfast at Sri Devi at KL's Little India where Rastam had a plate of 'uppama' (fried semolina with onions and kunyit) and another helping of the 'appam'.
Monday happened to be a public holiday in Japan ( Day of the Equinox - change of season from winter to spring), so Rastam did not have to stay put in front of his computer to work. So he took the opportunity to go to the Immigration Department to renew his passport which will expire later in the year. It took just 2 hours nowadays to renew the passport. No forms to be filled. Just the old passport, 2 recent photographs and RM300. We have come a long way indeed from the hours of waiting in queue those days......
After work, the family went to our regular 'Thai Oddysey" and treated ourselves to foot reflexology and a full body Thai massage. It was a good 'de-stressing' for all of us.
We drove to Sri Petaling and introduced Rastam to a hearty meal of Arab food. Pakdokter considers the al-Daifah Restaurant as one of the better and more authentic Arab restaurants in KL. We treated ourselves to lamb mendy rice, mendy with lamb kebab and their house special the al-Daifah rice with chicken. In additon we also had a plate of the falafel and the al-Daifah salad. It was a hearty meal indeed.....
