San Gimignano...probably the prettiest town in Tuscany..

A heavy downpour with thunderstorm and hail-stones stalled pakdokter's group at the vineyard for almost 30 minutes. Pepe was very apologetic about it and told us he could not do anything about it because it was the work of God. The hailstorm was not in the itinerary.

Pakdokter had never in his life experienced or witnessed a hailstorm. The rain was as heavy as a tropical shower in the afternoons at the Royal Selangor Golf Club. And the hail-stones were the size of pakdokter's thumb!
It was still raining when we arrived at San Gimignano and Pepe was kind enough to drive us into the walled hilltown ( this part of the hilltown is normally out of bounds for vehicles - but Pepe had his ways and connections) and dropped us at the door of a cafe ( the lady owner of which was one of Pepe's girlfriend) for us to wait out the rain while having either a capuccino or macchiato or an espresso..

The rain settled down after 15 minutes or so and we were lucky to be able to walk the streets of San Gimignano and capture this lovely hilltown which used to have hundreds of towers which today has been reduced to about 14 or so.....

In the Medeival times, San Gimignano was considered like the Manhattan of Tuscany with its hundreds of towers.....

below are two scenes of the countryside of Tuscany taken from the outer wall of San Gimignano...
