Embarkation for the 'Palace on Wheels' train took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Safdarjung Station of New Delhi. We were welcomed by a folk band playing ethnic music, garlanded by pretty girls in lovely saris and crowned with the Rajasthani headgear by the Executive Manager of the train. It was an exciting welcome difficult to put into words. The pictures below attempted to capture the mood of the moment...
