The QUAD 2010 was hosted by the RSGC. Unlike previous 'QUADs' which have always been held in Thailand, the RSGC has this year chosen to hold this competition in this southern Chinese city of Dongguan.
Dongguan is located to the east of Guangzho. The chinese word "dong" means 'east' and the name 'Dongguan' refers to the district east of the Guangzho province. Dongguan is the industrial hub of China. After Shenzen was developed as the hinterland of Hong Kong, the Chinese government decided to open up the (lychees and longans ) farmlands of Dongguan into another massive industrial hub which took advantage of the cheap migrant labour form the interior of China. With tax incentives and more liberal market-friendly policies, Dongguan became a very successful undustrial city. However the recent economic downturn which reduced western consumer demands for cheap Chinese goods, many of the original factories have had to be closed down. The current local government is now looking at pushing for higher end higher skilled industries to replace the older ones which relied on cheap unskilled labour.

The RSGC and the Royal Bangkok Sports Club teams were housed at the brand new Hou Jie International Hotel in Dongguan. For RM300 a night, this 5 to 6-star hotel was a 'deal'. The Hong Kong Golf Club and the Singapore Island Country Club teams stayed at different nearby hotels.
