Sunday Morning at the Hakodate Market....

Sunday, 26th September 2010
We woke up early Sunday morning and walked down to the Hakodate Morning Market. As pakdokter had written earlier, Hokkaido is a rich agricultural and fishery province and we expected to see a lot of these local produce at the market.
The most prominent stalls were the ones selling the famous Hakodate hairy crabs. Some of them probably weigh 5 kg or more. And you can also buy them on-line! Of course, the octopus is also abundant - after all the city is also very famous for its 'sotong'. Not much tuna was seen but some salmon was on display. Other seafood stuff like prawns, scallops and sea urchins were also available.
Hakodate is also famed for its high quality rock melon. And since it also produced dairy, their ice-cream was also available.
We took the opportunity to sample some of these local produce and delicacies...
