From Port Laoisie - the drive was mostly on motorways and it was actually a much faster drive than we actually first thought. All these free and tolled motorways were built during the 10-years of economic boom and certainly when Dean took his family on their outing 15 years ago or so he was driving only on the secondary country roads. By around 6 pm we passed through a town called Adare. The striking feature of this town was the thatched roof of most of the buildings there. It was a very pretty little town. There was also the Adare Castle which has now become a hotel and within the grounds of this Castle is the lovely Adare Golf Course. It would have been nice to have spent a night there. Unfortunately this was not in our itinerary.
