The next day we took the VIP Bus back to Chiang Mai as there is no direct flight to Malaysia from Chiang Rai. As the return flight from Chiang Mai is quite early in the morning we had to spend one night in Chiang Mai the night before. The return trip was about 3 hours in duration and from the Chiang Mai bus terminus we took a 'tuk tuk' to our hotel, the Hotel De Chai de Colonial. This is a one year old boutique hotel located at the fringe of the old Chiang Mai city. The 40 room boutique hotel belongs to an Indian Thai businessman and for its price. comfort and location, we were quite pleased with our selection of this hotel which we made directly from an internet booking site.
