The full day exploration of Serengeti on Monday was a very fruitful day. First thing in the morning, the first of the big 5, the wild buffalo was sighted right outside our lodge's window. Driving out of the lodge's fence, a pair of lions was sighted but rather from quite a distance away. Driving north-west to the borders of Masai Mara, we came across herds of wilderbeests and zebras and an occasional giraffes. The biggest catch were the three families of lions up close. A cheetah was also sighted but from quite a distance away. On our return to the lodge we came across a group of elephants crossing the track and eating from the shrubs by the track. We missed the leopard which the other groups had come across at the opposite end of the Serengeti plains.
The Lobo Wilflife Lodge gave us a buffet spread of dishes which included rotis and curries. We settled to sleep early for it had been a long and tiring day.
Tuesday morning saw us leaving Serengeti to the Ngorogoro Crater. We traversed about 100km of the savanna plains, passed the Serona air-strip and lodges, some camp-sites and finally exited the Serengeti at the Nabii Gate where we had been registered on entry 3 days ago and now had to register our safe exit.

The Serengeti Plains is restricted to wild-life only. Once we left the border of Serengeti into the Ngorogoro Park - Masai villages canme into view and some Masai folks in their traditional costumes could be seen along the tracks. The Ngorogoro Park allows the Masai communities to set up villages and live along-side the wild-life.
