It took about 1 hour to exit the Serengeti Park from the Lobo Wildlife Lodge. After checking out at the Nabii Gate, we drove through some flat terrain of the Ngorogoro Park before ascending to the summit of the Ngorogoro Crater situated at an alitude of 2800 metres above sea level. It was very windy and cold from up there and from several vantage points we could get a lovely panoramic vista of the crater or caldera which dropped for 600 metres from the summit. In the middle of the crater is the Ngorogoro Lake. The crater or caldera is 20 km in diameter and the lake is a 1 km in diameter.
The descent into the caldera was a very steep track, winding its way very quickly on to the plains of the crater.
