The horse-carriage tour of Palermo took about one hour to complete. Having now established a general idea of the city's layout and where the main areas of interest were ( the shops....) the group adjourned for lunch at a restaurant in a side alley of the main street. It served typical Sicilian cuisine as well as North African dishes, the legacy of 100 years of Muslim rule of Sicily.
Halfway through lunch we were welcomed by the 'Don', an immaculately dressed gentleman , who owned the rows of restaurants in the alley. And he was a very lovable old gentleman, too......
