The Matsumoto Castle....

Saturday, 2nd October 2010
The Matsumoto Castle is one of the four castles in Japan classified as National Treasures of Japan. This elegant castle with black roof ( for which it is sometimes also known as the Crow Castle) was built from 1592.
It is surrounded and protected by 3 moats. Externally, it looks like it has five floors but within the castle itself, there are seven floors, each linked by very steep and narrow steps. One has to be fit and lithe like the ninjas to move around and up this castle.
Outside the moats, the immediate district used to be the residential district of the samurais. And the district beyond this would be the area for the merchants and traders.
Exhibits of weaponry is on display within the castle.
