The Septembers of Shiraz...

Another great 'first book' which pakdokter has been lucky at picking up from the book-store this month.

An interesting and easy-to-read story of an Iranian Jewish family in the immediate aftermath of the Iranian Revolution.

The Washington Post described the book as one 'about how people, in any country live mostly without thinking about the political implications of their choices, and how they are taken by surprise when revolution or war crashes in...'

Her description of 'torture' under the regime is 'chilling'.

Does the police or the 'intelligence' operate the same way in all country????

Dalia Sofer, was born in Iran but fled with her family to the United States in 1982. She currently lives in New York.
