Miri (111): A Feastful of Lobsters...

Being a coastal city, Miri is flushed with many seafood restaurants. And pakdokter's group treated ourselves to seafood meals for both lunches and dinners during the 3 day break here. Of special mention was the seafood barbeque and buffet at the ParkCity Hotel where the Miri Jazz Festival was held. For RM48, that was a real treat where the huge one-kilo lobsters alone would have cost RM110 in Kuala Lumpur. And to add to that there were generous helpings of tiger prawns, mussels, calamaris and snapper fillets. And if one can still tuck it in, there was also the international buffet spread as well as the char kuey teow and laksa sarawak stalls to pick on...
Another pleasant find was the Marina Bay Seafood Restaurant. Located in an area still under development ( pakdokter can visualise this area turning out to be like the Sutera Harbour Development of Kota Kinabalu in 10 years time), this huge and lovely restaurant is located at the end of a promontory facing the South China Sea with the Marina being built in a lagoon protected from the open sea.
And to add to our surprise, the restaurant that day had on offer, the dish "spaghetti a'la aragosta" - a lobster spaghetti at the unbelievable price of RM30 per helping! This part of the country must be teeming with lobsters everywhere.......
The restaurant had a good selection of fresh fish, prawns, clams etc and all of us would have to go on low cholesterol diets for quite while after this trip....
