Hippos on the Masai River and Goodbye Kenya.

After breakfast at the park  - we drove to the Masai Mara mini airport where we picked up our other two travelling colleagues who did not go on the hot-air ballon ride with us as they had done this in their previous trip. Other vehicles were also there to pick up some of their travellers and it was interesting to see the different vehicle-types which have been modified for the purpose of making them suitable for safaris.

We drove to a part of the Masai River where we came across a number of hippos soaking in the water. From there we drove to another section of the river where the massive animal migration would see the animals making a crossing over the river. This not being the peak of the migratory period, we did not manage to see the actual river crossing of the animals. The reverse migration of the animals from Masai Mara in Kenya back to Serengeti in Tanzania would take place some time in October.

We returned to our lodge in the evening and checked out the next morning and headed to Nairobi for a lunch at the famous Carnivore Restaurant - after that we did a short stop in town for a last minute shopping. We decided to forgo the early dinner planned for us at a Chinese Restaurant in town and headed to the airport to rest at the airport's lounge enroute home via Bangkok.
