Another section of the old city was occupied by rows and rows of pubs, night-clubs and restaurants and was a bit too loud for pakdokter's comfort. On hind-sight, although the whole 'Lijiang Old Town' has been very prettily restored, it has become somewhat too 'commercial' which has made it loose some of its 'old' feel......Pakdokter was making a comparison with the city of Fez in Morocco for instance - where when pakdokter was there some years ago - it felt as if the whole city and the folks who lived there had not changed much since the first days of the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) who made his foray into North Africa and brought Islam to the continent.
