Pakdokter first played pakMesha on the final day of the 1st Edition at Cengkareng. As our handicaps were in the same 'bracket', we ended up being matched against each other in all subsequent Editions and our matches have often turned out to be the determining match of the Series as had happened in Bali. The repeated encouters had also helped to establish a special 'friendship' between the two of us - apart from the team match - our encounters have now also become and turned into personal 'duels' with a wage of 50k rupiah per hole in Bali and now 100k rupiah per hole in Jakarta.........
Based on our last score in Bali - pakdokter played to a handicap of 32 and pakMesha 33. Pakdokter's partner, pakAzman, and pakMesha's partner, Erik, both played to a handicap of 29.
Starting from hole 1, pakdokter 'surprised' himself and the others by scoring pars on both holes to go 2-up. PakAzman's par on the 3rd put our pair 3-up. The KOBA pair was quite rattled but Erik's birdie at the 5th and par at the 7th brought us down to 2-up and we went in the 2nd Nine with a 2-up advantage.
PakAzman's 3 consecutive pars at hole 10 to 12 gave our pair a 3-up advantage. But Erik and Mesha came back strongly to take advantage of pakdokter's increasing fatigue and brought the game to a square at hole 17th! So it was back to the last hole again as in many previous matches. Alas, our 'last-hole-nightmares' affected pakdokter and pakAzman and we lost out to them at the 18th.......
Pakdokter played reasonably well actually - returning a nett score of 68 - although, of course on a handicap of 32. Pakdokter was hopeful that the 'new imports' would carry for STAROBA - but what a 'shocker' - STAROBA trailed KOBA at the end of the 1st day 7.5 to 2.5 points!
If like this, we may have to 'sell' our Captain then........
