Sunday 1st June 2014
We just made it back to the hotel in Bilbao in time to join the rest of the group to go for dinner at a tapas bar in Plaza Nueva of the Old Quarter selected by Vero. Sharing a variety of tapas with Vero doing some explanations was a good introduction to Spanish and Basque cuisines. We learnt that if the tapas bar looks messy with lots of tissue paper on the floor then it means that it is a good tapas joint. Small porions are called tapas in Spain or pintxos in Basques. Bigger portions are called raciones.
