The Ayuntamiento (Town Hall ) of Bilbao was originally located in the Old Town of Bilbao. Now it is located on the right bank of the Estuary of Bilbao across the bridge the Puente del Ayuntamiento. Built in 1892 by Jaoquin Rucoba - on the former site of a convent which was destroyed during the Carlist Wars - it was built in Baroque style - with one hall called the Arab Hall which is a richly decorated hall with Neo-Mudejar style that resembles the decorations in the Alhambra in Granada. This hall is used for official receptions and weddings.
