I have neglected this blog for a year now.My last post was around this time last year when I was on my summer vacation in Provence and Burgundy which started in Monaco. Somehow I was distracted by many other things that I did not even finish reporting on that fabulous Rhone River cruise.
There had been several trips in between that time and now which had also remained unreported. Suddenly, urged by an impulse to write - I have decided to start blogging again by reporting on my latest tour of Northern Spain which started in Paris.
Leaving Kuala Lumpur on the Malaysian Airlines flight to Paris at around midnight - the 12-hour non-stop journey took us to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport at 6 am Paris time. Although MAS was recently in the news rather negatively with the loss of MH 370 in the Indian Ocean - it certainly did not affect the travel on MAS on this sector. Even all the Business Class seats were fully taken up!
Previously we had always taken a taxi from the airport to downtown Paris for quite an exorbitant cost. This time around we decided to use the Express Train service instead. From Terminal 1 where we disembarked we had to take the free inter-terminal monorail train to Terminal 3 from where we boarded the Airport Express to Paris. It cost 9.75 Euros each for the 30-minute ride to the Chatelet Les Halles where we had booked our hotel for the stay in Paris.Although it cost slightly more than the KLIA ERL Express train - the French service is definitely of a poorer quaity with older coaches violated by grafittis and with no proper compartment for luggage in the coach.
From the Chatelet Les Halles station it was a short walk up to the nearby Novotel Les Halles where we had booked to stay for the next 3 days.
