By the time we settled down in our room at Barcelo Nervion it was almost 11 am. Asking the reception for suggestions on where to go for lunch we were recommended towards the Bilbao Old Town to try out some of the tapas bars.
Tapas small portion dishes served in bars which go well with wine or beer. In the Basque country these dishes are called 'pintxos' and bigger portions are called porciones. We were attracted to this bar as it was one of the first ones we came across along the street and its name happened to be the same as our daughter!
And we were not disappointed. The pintxos were delicious. We spent almost 2 hours sitting at the bar enjoying the food and drinks and soaking in the ambience of the place.
trays of colourful pintxos served on the bar
slices of bread topped with fried baccalao (cod fish) and baby eels
slices of bread topped with mushrooms
pimientos ( red pepper) with cheese fillings
potato croquets
Spanish omellete
