After the 'Swan Lake' ballet at the Hybernyia Theatre, it was a short 5 minute walk back to the hotel. As it was still early, we went back to the Republika Cafe where the Matsumoto Suzuki Trio was performing. Suzukisan was a handsome mature gentleman, looking quite a bit like the famous Japanese movie star, Ken Watanabe, whose most recent movie pakdokter saw him in was 'The Inception". Suzukisan has a deep strong soothing voice and the jazz standards and evergreens he sang were beautifully accompanied by his supporting bassist and acoustic guitarist.
Republika Cafe had a different line-up every night of the week. If only we had known it from the first night we arrived here......
