After an exciting encounter in Bandung 2 months ago in the Koba Invitation Edisi 2 - this edition of the Ryder Cup format competition between Koba and Staroba was again held during the above dates - this time on this beautiful island resort of Bali.
Having being thrashed on the final third day in Bandung by the Koba team, the Staroba Captain decided to invite several new players who have showed consistent performance in past club games to strengthen the team. Seven new faces made up the Staroba team of 20 this time. PakMazlan Salleh came all the way from Sarawak. PakAriffin Hamid came down from Johor. Other new players included pakBadry Jaafar ( a supersenior who has kept playing good golf despite his age), pakColonelShahidanRazak who has beaten pakdokter repeatedly in our recent encounters, pakHusniYusof who have won the monthly medals a few times, pakKhairulAnwar - a Mcoban who is an associate of Staroba and pakRaszailly Rashid a.k.a 'Boy' who plays to a handicap of 9 to give the better players from Koba a good challenge.
Lessons were learnt from the thrashing defeat in Bandung and this time the Staroba Captain decided to instil a certain degree of discipline and planning to get the team to play with greater focus to increase the chances of a victory. After a late check-in and dinner at the hotel - the Harris Riverview in Kuta - the CdM pakRoslan called all the golfers for a briefing and a strategic planning to get everybody geared up for a good game the next morning.
Pakdokter felt guilty to go out 'clubbing' after that briefing and decided to try and have a good sleep.........
