Cinque Terre ( 111) : Corniglia...a village at the peak..

Saturday, 3rd July 2010

Walking from Manarola to the next village, Corniglia, took another one hour and a half. The narrow lane skirting the cliff was initially flat and easy but towards the end took a steep climb uphill. Beyond the Corniglia railway station, the climb up to the little village was as high as climbing up the Batu Caves. Pakdokter felt like we had played 36 holes of golf since morning.
At several spots, groups of holiday-makers were enjoying the summer sun, baking their torsos under the scorching heat. The crystal clear azure water of the Mediterranean exposed the rocky and pebbly condition of the sea-side...

Corniglia is perched on the hilltop miles away..

climbing up the steps to Corniglia..
it was like climbing up the Batu Caves steps..

we walked from the south-most end to Corniglia..
