The Little hilltown of Monteriggioni....

On the way back from San Gimignano, Pepe made a stop at another little hilltown just on the outskirts of Siena. Monteriggioni is a little walled hilltown with about 1000 persons living there. Apart form a little square with a few restaurants and a boutique enotica ( wine-shop), the hilltown provided a strategic spot from which one can get a fantastic vista of the undulating Tuscan countryside.

















On the way home, Pepe recommended a restaurant near the Duomo of Siena, called the Taverna il Capetano which he reassured offerred authentic Tuscan cuisines. The restaurant was heavily booked and we were lucky to be able to secure a table. And we managed to sample a few of the Tuscan dishes on offer at the joint...
