KLM to the Rescue.....

As pakdokter had earlier reported, pakdokter's planned tour of Beirut and Lebanon during the CNY holiday week had to be aborted due to the political uncertainty and security threat there. Fortunately for pakdokter, the ground tour company in Beirut did not penalise pakdokter for the cancellation and has refunded the full payment back into pakdokter's account. A visit to the MH office at KLSentral before midnight 2 days ago enabled pakdokter to cancel the booking and retain the ticket for use before the next 6 months.
But pakdokter had already declared pakdokter's office closed for the whole of next week! Looking at the other destinations offered by MAS - pakdokter noticed the their fares have gone up considerably. All destinations to Europe would have cost RM5500 each. Even the ticket to Istanbul would have cost just as much.
Clicking to the KLM website ( which has been sending tempting and seductive emails regularly to pakdokter) presented pakdokter with a really pleasant surprise! Most points in Europe via Amsterdam cost just about RM3500! ( all inclusive)......
Pakdokter's partner had always wanted to go back to Prague.....and so Prague it is!
Thank you KLM.
As a comparison, pakdokter must admit that the KLM online booking system is more user-friendly and faster than our own national airline. And last night, 24 hours before the expected departure time, pakdokter received an email from KLM to invite pakdokter to check-in on-line. It was not only easy, it also enabled pakdokter to choose pakdokter's choice of seating, and on top of this was also able to upgrade to a seating with a better legroom for a small fee. Baggage allowance was also quite generous - 23 kg for the checked-in and 12kg for hand-carry. Another additional luggage/luggages can be checked-in also but of course for an additional fee. And the boarding passes were instantly printed out of the computer. What is left is to just drop the luggage at the counter tonight.
Pakdokter is not sure if MH has already started to enable this on-line check-in service although pakdokter has noticed self-check-in booths at KLSentral and KLIA. If pakdokter is not mistaken, Airasia has also enabled on-line check-in from the PC or laptop.
Well, pakdokter and partner are all set to usher in the 'Year of the Rabbit' in wintry Prague! Both pakdokter and partner are ' Rabbit Children".......
