Day 1 - Road to Chiangmai 2014. Early " Kow Soi" Lunch in Maejo

Kun Surapat welcomed the golfers who came on Thursday morning at the airport with his girls who garlanded them upon arrival as they did us the day before. From there the golfers were taken to their respective hotels. We all left for Maejo Golf Course - the venue of the first game - but on the way Kun Surapat took us to a famous local restaurant serving ' kow soi' - this is Northern Thailand most famous local beef or chicken noodle.

The broth is like our 'laksa' - tasted more like a fish broth on top of which slices of beef or chicken are added to your liking. The home-made noodle is brown and flat  like kuey teow and for garnishing there were sliced fresh onions and pickled vegetables with a slice of lime to be squeezed on to the dish.

Without Kun Surapat we would not have discovered this dish. And the bill for our group of almost 30 came to just over 1000 bahts ( RM100). PakHamid generously sponsored our lunch. Thank you pakHamid.
