A Day of 'Golf Marathon"....

Dr Rezuan, Hamid Shafie, Arham and pakdokter..

one more ball into the water...

Pakdokter was signed up to play in the Staroba Golf Club Monthly Medal at the Peransang Templer Golf Course on Sunday afternoon. However, the past one week has been a scene of daily afternoon shower and thunderstorms with flash floods causing havoc to the city's traffic.

Pakdokter was certain that this Sunday afternoon would be the same and betted that the SGC November Medal would be 'rained-out'.

Not wanting to miss out on a round of 'Sunday' golf, pakdokter decided to play with pakdokter's regular Sunday morning group at the RSGC. Pakdokter's partnership with pakdokter's schoolmate, Ahmad Khalid (AK) was beaten by the younger pair of shipping CEO Syed Izuan and Oil and Gas enterpreneur, Farid Riza.

After a quick lunch at the RSGC lounge, pakdokter moved on to the Peransang Templer, hoping that an afternoon thunderstorm would 'rain out' the game.

But pakdokter's bet was wrong! It was a totally bright and sunny afternoon and pakdokter struggled to complete the 18 hole.

And the tight and narrow Peransang Templer is an unforgiving and tough course......

The damage? Well, pakdokter sent almost 3 tubes of golf balls into the Peransang lakes ( not very encouraging, isn't it? for a golf course whose Malay name translates as ' encouraging' in plain English...). Luckily, pakdokter did not have to walk the course like in the RSGC. But despite the buggy and an extra-cheerful Indonesian caddy, pakdokter did not even manage to bring home 20 stableford points.

Lesson to learn...?

Pakdokter has to accept that pakdokter is not in the 30's anymore. At 60, pakdokter has risked a 'slipped disc' and a 'torn shoulder tendon'. And not to forget, the heat-stroke too.....

foot-note: pakdokter has played 2 rounds of golf in one day before, but that was in Kunming where the weather was cool and pleasant. And pakdokter was also a much younger gentleman then. And the first 36-holes in one day was many many years ago in the 'Pharmaton Endurance Golf' at the Saujana Golf Course. Pakdokter cannot remember how pakdokter got into it, must have been sponsored by one of the medical drug sales representative who serviced pakdokter's clinic.....
