A Cruise on Lake Ashi

the bus-stop in Hakone town to take the bus to Lake Ashi

The package of the Odakyu Hakone Romance Holiday included the return train ticket, the ryokan accomodation with breakfast and dinner and a Hakone Pass which entitled the holder free rides on all the buses, trains and cable-car rides in the district of Hakone

After dropping off our luggage at the ryokan ( we could only check-in after 2 pm ) we decided to do the cruise on Lake Ashi. We took one of the local buses from Hakone town to the jetty of Lake Ashi. The bus ride was along a meandering mountain road with beautiful scenery.

The cruise took about 2 hours to return to its original departure spot. The ride was smooth with beautiful vistas of the surrounding mountains and many hotels and resorts on the waterfront..

we took the cruise at Moto Hakone-ko
and sailed up to Togendai-ko and back

these 'pirates boats' were a thrill
to the many school kids on the cruise
