Viewing Shirakawa-go from a Vantage Point

Walking a few kilometres up a steep winding road at one end of the village brought us to a hill-top vantage point where one gets a panoramic view of the Heritage Village. Easily about 50 or more photography enthusiasts were already stationed there with there cameras on tripods waiting to catch the village as dusk set in.

We joined the group and snapped pictures of the village as it got darker and darker. We met and made friends with a Japanese gentleman from southern Japan who shared with us his knowledge about photography. He said he would come to the same spot there at Shirakawa-go during the four different seasons of the year to capture the sceneries from the hilltop.
