Our Ryokan in Hakone

a simple brochure in English explaining hous rules

We were welcomed at the Ryokan by the Front Desk Manager who spoke some English and gave us a brief description of their house rules. The ryokan which from the front looked like a small house was actually quite a large establishment built on several split levels up the mountain slope. We were given a map of the ryokan so that we knew where our room was and where the dining rooms were. We were also shown to the communal Japanese bath which was a 'must experience' thing in Japan although our room had its own ensuite bathroom and toilet.
