The 'Knock Out Crab Meal'...

Hua Hin had countless numbers of 'massage parlours' along the many little lanes of the town and Thailand has definitely capitalised and turned this ancient art of traditional therapy into an industry. These establishments provided the local folks with many job opportunities to earn some income. The establishments were clean and because they were so many of them, one will be spoilt for choice. And pakdokter's daily routine the week pakdokter was there was to go for at least an hour of this traditional Thai 'pampering'. And it was darned cheap! Only 300 bahts per hour. In comparison, the same treatment at the posh spa of the Hilton in a 6-star ambience would have cost pakdokter 2500 bahts per hour! Naturally these street 'thai massage' shops were everyone's choice and by early evening most of them were fully patronised by the tourists who gave their tired legs and body a 'proper kneading'.....
Dinner on the fourth night was of course another round of seafood and unfortunately the last for the tour. Why? Well pakdokter was knocked out by the typically 'hot hot' Thai Chili Crab and the plate of huge grilled calamari dipped in hot and sour fish sauce that the next two days pakdokter was down with 'runs and vomitting'. It must have been a mild gastroenteritis or perhaps just an 'overindulgence' of eating......
Pakdokter had to cancel the golf bookings for play at the Palm Hill Golf Course on Friday and the Royal Hua Hin on Saturday morning.

the 'super hot' Thai Cili Crab and
a plate of deep-fried prawns with garlic...

a plate of grilled succulent calamari and
a plate of fried glass noodles with shrimp....
and one of these four must have 'insulted'
pakdokter's tummy......

So pakdokter had to spend the remaining two days of the week in bed, mostly keeping nourished with energy drinks and later bland steamed fish and congee from the Chinese restaurant. Pakdokter must give credit to the Hilton house-keepers - pakdokter's little ailment must have been discussed in their daily morning briefing ( pakdokter had called up the housekeeping to clean-up the wash-room late at night after 'soiling the floor') that the front desk staff and the 'guest relation officers' sent pakdokter a bouquet of flowers and a 'get-well-soon card' on Friday morning......
How not to fall in love with Thailand......?
