Latin Rythms

"Latin Rythmns" is a special event - where one has to buy a ticket to attend on top of the daily pass which you may have also bought for the "Main Event". This session cost AUD 63 per pax - but apart from readings and recitals by 3 Latinos - there was also a free flow of beer, mojitos, calparinhas, margaritas as well as a continous array of tapas dishes throughout the evening. Juan Gabriel Vasquez, from Colombia, read from his book which dealt with the 'drug' scourge in his country. His good looks and sexy voice kept everybody glued to his reading. Edel Rodriguez wrote for children in Mexico and she told the crowd that her books could not be purchased in the book-stores because all of them were bought by the Mexico government to be used in their schools. Cuban Marcelo Romero both writes and illustrates - so as he read out his works some of his illustrations and drawings were projected on a screen to re-inforce his story......
The 'Latin Rythymn' event was held at the Mosaic - one of Ubud's top restaurant and watering hole. To add music to the evening - a trio also entertained us to bossa nova and other Latin tempo....
