Putting Humour on the Page

Corrine Grant - a stand-up comic from Australia has written a book called 'the Confession of a Hoarder' and she was funny and hilarious throughout the discussion about how to add humour to one's writing. Rodaan al Galidi - an Iraqi who left Iraq to escape having to serve the army found himself first in Jordan, later to be turned down and sent back by the Australian immigration in Sydney - only to be able to buy a 'forged' Dutch?Holland passport in Bangkok which enabled him now to make the Netherland his current home. He was so funny in his Iraqi-Dutch acccented English - narrating the story of his life. Sri Lankan Shehan Karunatilaka was a serious character who wrote about 'cricket' - a game which every Sri Lankan is crazy about. His story was from the perspective of a drunkard because in Sri Lanka, cricket is watched by many at the pubs. So Shehan set out to be at the pubs for two years or so to watch the cricket games and get inspiration for his book by watching the folks at the pub. To this revelation - Corrine or someone asked Shehan whether after that 2 years, his liver was 'pickled' or not!.....
