Pakdokter had heard of the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival but had only decided to sign up for it this time. Pakdokter and partner had been to Ubud a few times in the past but it had been just a quick one day tour of the galleries and shops of Ubud. We had told ourselves that we had to stay in Ubud for several days in order to soak up the life and culture of the folks here. So this Festival became an opportune time to do that.
The Y Resort was booked based on the recommendation of the Festival's website. It was only opened 3 months ago and this boutique hotel has only about 20 rooms. It was not a disappointment. Located in a serene and quiet setting along Jalan Penestanan - it was a short 15 minutes walk away from where the main Festival activities took place. And it sold for USD90 a night (RM270 per night) with breakfast for two.
