Out of India

Out of India highlighted the many writing talents that have come out of the sub-continent. Kunal Basu was as entertaining as he was when he was involved in the session on his book, "the Japanese Wife". Dipika Rai who now resides in the USA and Aneesha Kapur whose family migrated to Kenya but later moved on to Europe were all representative of the many great writers who have come from India. Some questions from the floor asked how did India manage to produce so many successful writers - perhaps it was the English educational system left behind by the British colonial masters but Kunal Basu emphasised that the world has only been exposed to Indian writers who have written in English. He said that there are so many good and probably better writers who writes in their own language - Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Tamil etc etc - which the world has yet to discover.
