The 1st batch of Starians who started school in a makeshift premise at Ashbie Road in Ipoh in 1957 celebrated their 70th year birthdays this year with a 2-day celebration of Gemilang 70 last weekend. The celebration started with a golf tournament followed by a lunch at Datuk Tajri Abu Yamin Residence and a Dinner at the Kelana Jaya Tabung Haji Complex. Prior to the dinner there were prayers and tahlil for fellow batchmates and teachers who have passed on.
Staroba69ers came in a contingent of 30. Ours was probably the largest contingent of the different batches second only to the pioneer batch who organized this event.
Pakdokter's new business venture - the mobile coffee business under the brand name of " Caffe Dottore " was there to be introduced and promoted to the diners. " Caffe Dottore " apart from being parked at our licensed spots in KL also offer services for private functions.
Staroba69 is planning a Reunion in conjunction with the 50th year that we became Starians which happens to be next year. A committee headed by Saudara Hasan Bahaudin, Daud Ismail and Ir Dzulkarnain Kamarulzaman has started work and presented their plans to us after the dinner. The event is planned to be held in Ipoh preceeding the annual Staroba Weekend Back to School programme.
