The Cafe de Siene, Dublin

Monday, 1st August 2011
Swanson Street, the street next to our hotel is lined with many restaurants amongst which was the Marco Peirre White Grill and Steakhouse where we dined on Saturday. Pakdokter and partner decided to check out another one on Monday - a French Cafe called 'Cafe de Siene. It was a lovely setting - the atmosphere within was itself mesmering for want of a better word. Pakdokter can imagine during the 'boom years' of the Celtic Tiger - there was no way one could just walk in and ask for a table without prior reservations. Pakdokter's partner was more busy going around the restaurant to shoot pictures with her SLR camera than to worry about what to choose from the menu for our first day of puasa.

a bowl of clam chowder...
the black bread was called the Guiness bread
the lighter brown bread had cumin and spices..
and a pesto and tomato dips to go with the bread..
pakdokter could no longer remember what it was...
maybe a tuna sandwich..
this was pakdokter's partner's meat pie...
the dishes on offer were mostly cafe-type dishes...
the waiters and waitresses were mostly French....
the guy who served us was a handsome boy from Normandy...
since joining the EU, Ireland saw an influx of foreign workers
from Eastern Europe etc.....
Ireland is a small country of 4 million people only....
during the Celtic Tiger years, jobs were aplenty....
