The Mount Juliet Golf Club, Kilkenny

Mount Juliet Golf Course in Kilkenny hosted the WGC Amex Championship in 2002 and 2004 respectively where Tiger Woods and Ernie Els were the winners. Dean O'Malley had put this course in our itinerary and as in Killarney, pakdokter made an online booking which was instantly confirmed.
The golf course was a short 30 minutes drive our of Kilkenny. We were booked to play at 11 am. It was the sunniest and most warm day since we first came to Ireland.
The green fee was 60 Euros each and another 5 Euros for the trolley. Green fees in Ireland has dropped considerably since the economic recession. The K-Club in Dublin used to charge a green fee of 320 Euros during the good times - but today it would only cost 70 Euros to play at this course. And despite of this the course is no longer busy and pakdokter was told that the course condition has also not been maintained.

although the Marshal advised pakdokter to tee-off from the white tee,
we decided to go for the blue tee...
and voila! pakdokter put the ball 2-on
and nearly missed a 'birdie'......

that's how sunny it was.....
some lovely cottages around the course...

this stable was converted into a hotel....
and the castle within the golf course ground was
also run as an upmarket hotel.....
