Day 4 : The Shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka

On Day 4, we checked out of Mitsui Garden Hotel to take the Shinkansen to Osaka. Many of the golfers woke up early and walked to the Tsukiji Market for a breakfast of fresh sashimis. Some even bought salmon to take home.
We checked out of the hotel at 10 am and were herded by our guide, Kris ( a Singaporean who has become a citizen of Japan after working here for more than 10 years and married a local), to the Shimbashi JR Train Station. It was a short 10 or 15 minutes walk. From there we took the Yamanote Line to the Tokyo Station which was 2 stops away. The Shinkansen Train started from the Tokyo Station. We had about 40 minutes to wait for our train which departed at 11.50 am. Most of us bought 'bento' lunch box for the train journey which took about 2 hours and 30 minutes running at an average speed of 210 km/hr?

pakdokter's bento lunch box

cost 1350 yen
the box was from styrofoam
but see how pretty it is
it was enough to feed 2 persons actually
and this was Raena's bento lunch box
slightly a different selection and cost a little more @ 1500 yen
at one stretch the Mount Fuji came into view
pakdokter managed to shoot a video-clip below
otherwise pakdokter fell asleep half the journey
which was smooth and fast
