Chiang Rai Day 3 : The Waterford Golf Course

Pakdokter wanted to check out as many golf courses as possible in this short trip to Northern Thailand and as the weather here was quite cold ( especially in the morning) pakdokter was fit enough to play two rounds in one day. Pakdokter finished the game at Santiburi at around 11 am and had an early lunch at the clubhouse. The clubhouse at Santiburi was busy with preparations for the 'Singha Masters' with the press getting prepared to get a briefing from the organisers. Pakdokter noticed some of the golf pros had also arrived for 'practice rounds'.
Pakdokter had arranged for the transfer from Santiburi to the Waterford Golf Course at 12 noon. It took about 40 minutes to reach the Waterford Golf Course located quite out of the city. We drove past some villages and rice fields before ascending a little hilly area where the course was located.
The long dry season which normally lasted from October to March or April had resulted the fairways to look somewhat dry and brown and the trees here devoid of leaves. Otherwise, pakdokter would imagine that this would be an equally beautiful course.
Most holes were long and narrow - sloping downhill on the way out and ascending on the return. The high altitude and the low humidity must have an effect on the ball - pakdokter surprisingly was hitting longer every time pakdokter hit the ball here. In one very long downhill par-5 (545 yards ) pakdokter was close to the apron on the second shot!
