Chiang Rai Day 4 : To the Golden Triangle

We crossed back into Thailand and took our lunch at a local restaurant. We were not that hungry and settled for this simple lunch instead of another hotel buffet offered in our itinerary. After lunch we were driven for about another hour to the Golden Triangle of Thailand notoriously famous for its history of being a major opium production region.

this vantage point allowed us to see the Mekong river
at the very top end the river goes to Kunming in China
to the right is Laos and the left is Burma
freight boats bring goods from China to the port here
and take back produce of Thailand
like rubber, palm oil, fruits etc
