We arrived at the outskirts of Dali by about lunch time and our guide for Dali was waiting for us there. Ms Maggie was a "Bai" native and she spoke very good English. First item on her day's agenda was to get us our lunch.
The restaurant we stopped at was a big one where all the domestic tourists also stopped for lunch. Pakdokter's travelling companion, Ravee, an accomplished chef himself - decided to go to the kitchen with Ms Maggie to order our dishes and to instruct the cook on how to prepare the dishes.
this Dali beverage was light and very refreshing...only 10 yuan for a 500 ml bottle..
an omellette with baby anchovies....still a little oily and not enough salt...
sauteed bamboo shoots...
sauteed bean sprouts with a little local chilis..
beef with leeks....
prawns.....with sliced ginger and spring onions...
the lunch was well received....
